What's the point of the Hideout in Tarkov? ›

Description. The Hideout is initially found as an abandoned and cluttered bomb shelter without any means of sustaining life. The player can build and improve various modules to get access to extra features like crafting stations, additonal storage, a shooting range, a gym and character boosts.

Streets of Tarkov is the largest urban map and one of the most challenging Tarkov maps simply because it's so complex. It's made up of dozens of streets and even more buildings, and there are many extract sites, loot spots, and boss locations to learn, along with a roaming BTR and minefields.

Let's Break Down Why Escape From Tarkov is So Hard

There are no minimaps, no guidance markers, no arrows, and no navigational assistance. You're told nothing about the maps, you don't know where your exits are, and you don't really know where your quest objectives can be found.

When you first start the game, you'll notice there's a menu called “Hideout” next to the main menu option, on the bottom left corner of the screen. If you press it, you'll be directed to a kind of dark base, full of sections (modules) waiting to be constructed.

When your hideout accumulates enough danger, it may be subjected to a raid. You can prevent this by lowering your danger or moving your hideout. If your hideout stays like this for a while, you will get raided.

Crafts in Escape from Tarkov allows you to produce many items. It is done through various hideout modules such as the booze generator, lavatory, medstation, nutrition unit, water collector and workbench. Every item crafted in the hideout will have the "found in raid" status.

However, despite there being a fairly terrifying boss and plenty of dark, dingy corridors, Factory is actually the easiest map to get to grips with in Escape From Tarkov.

Escape from Tarkov is not a beginner-friendly game, it is not a friendly game at all, in fact. After watching some videos and reading a few articles, you might expect a rough start, but you most likely don't realize HOW rough.

Woods are regarded as a map that new players should try to avoid unless they want to complete a specific quest. There are a few reasons for this: There is not too much to loot on this map. If you want to make good money on Woods, you pretty much have to engage in (and win) some PvP fights.

Even Customs is completely swamped with cheaters literally every single raid.

The Crafting skill should be top priority for any Tarkov player serious about their hideout. Each level reduces the time required to craft items across all installed modules by 0.75%, compounding up to a whopping 37.5% reduction at the maximum level of 51!

Does the Tarkov wipe delete your hideout? Yes, when Tarkov wipes, you'll lose your entire hideout and will need to rebuild it from scratch.

In the PMC mode, you play as your main character hired by a private military company (either USEC or BEAR). You start by selecting a location and time of day then enter the raid either solo or with teammates.
